Getrag 420G and UUC Twin Disk (Organic) installed.
It took me a while to get this done, mainly because I am not a mechanic (I'm in Banking) and I was alone doing this on my back from underneath the car. It also took longer than expeceted because the UUC flywheel kept hitting the 10mm bolts that hold the flywheel oil seal lid. In the end I had to shave off almost 2mm of lit bolts heads with my Dremel.
The car feels great now. My old clutch was working well, however it was a very heavy pedal and it was not made for street use and therefore would not slip with ease... The UUC however has a VERY light pedal and can be driven like a stock clutch. It feels exacly the same as my Mini Cooper in fact.
The Getrag 420G is a great gearbox, feels smoother than the ZF310, but the ZF was more easy to put into reverse.
Some pix from the install:
Old ZF310 out, Getrag 420G waiting to join the party.
Sound insulation carpet really showing its age.. I removed it.
Old flywheel is a JB-Racing 520-180-240 Which is actually E46 M3 spec1999 - 06 E46 M3 w/ S54 3.2L - 6 cyl. - w/ 6-speed manual transmission
Clutch Diameter: 240mm OEM Flywheel Wt. 24.5 lbs.
List Price $646.00 Alum. Flywheel Wt. 10.0 lbs
Old clutch is a Sachs 240MF press and an OMP 5puck Ceramic.
After removing the sound insulation carpet, I painted the tunnel with some sound absorbing paint (also corotion protective)
Here you can see the damage. UUC has re-designed the flywheel by shaving off some material, however they need to shave more in my opinion. There is also a pix showing the bolts hitting, and then before/after some Dremel action.
