    Hi,

Just thought id share some info with ya'all so you can have a good ol laugh like i did.

Phoned them today as i need my coolant replacing and this is what i was told.

One hour Labour £155 inc of vat

Plus whatever the parts came too...about £25 quid.

So they want around £180 to change the coolant on an E46

    Enjoy.....

Did you try to negotiate ? Sytners will trade on price
Did you say you wanted the benefits of their 4+ scheme? Added discounts to parts and labour for cars over 4 years old.

I have found Sytner to be quite hit and miss in the pass - the old Rydale garages (well the one local to me) seem to be better than those that were Sytner already.

That is however an outrageous price - you shouldn't have to negotiate with them, they should just offer a quality service at a reasonable price (that is open to all customers), not take the p!ss and hope they can get away with it.

They clearly don't want/need the work. It's a shame you did'nt go in person to see if the service guy was grinning when he gave you the quote.

    Totally amazing

I work offshore and even the best paid guys offshore cant command this kind of money.

This company is living in a dream world when it thinks it can charge this for a simple fluid change on a motor vehicle. Yet, people in charge of offshore installations and all the responsibilty that goes with that job cant charge that kind of rate per hour.

FFS, £155 is a weekly wage to some people

I paid £115 at Elms Bishops Stortford (main dealer).

That would have been as part of their 4+ or 'value' offering.
    I'm loving it

Thing is, people pay it without batting an eyelid. Has anyone had anything to do with the 'traffic light' inspection that BMW main dealers now do when they have your car for anything? Green = all good, amber = could do with attention and red = needs doing pronto. Mine came back with; Amber, needs approx 3/4 ltr of oil, (It did'nt). Amber, needs new windscreen wipers, (It does'nt). Amber, brake disks 'slightly' worn, (They're fine) and Red, nail in o/s/r tyre, (buggered if I can find it!). I wonder how many people take the service department's word for it when they phone to tell them how dangerous their car is and tell them to get on with the work?

The big Sytner near me work are the most unhelpful people known to mankind - my boss had a Cooper S (R56) that kept having issues wth the timing chain. The last time I was with him (it had the same symptons from the last time it did it) and was told that it needed oil....they then tried to charge him £40 for a litre of oil!!!! He just said 'can I have my key back please?' we then popped down to ECP, 1 litre of oil of £15 and the sympotons didn't go away! The technicin refused to test drive it etc without putting oil in it first (it was just above minimum). What a joke.

There is also a chap pn PH with an M5 who has had an absolute mare getting it fixed by his local Sytner garage. But the one closest to me is very good (rubiish sales service, but awesome after sales!).
