I have had a mare of a day.....got to work this morning (36miles away) with no issues at all. Hop in my car at the end of the day, turn the key and......nothing ! To cut a long story short, I had to call the RAC out and it turns out that I have a fuel pump issue.....car is sat in the work car park going nowhere, I therefore need a recomendation fot garages in Nottingham - ideally less than 10miles away from Wilford (or it'll cost me to get my car towed.....).

Any help or advise would be massively appreciated....

So far I have two possibles:

    Sports Tech
    Ilkeston Garage

Heard of Sports Tech, never dealt with them though.

Nottingham - Avoid H.A.C Service centre - they are cowboys in a posh garage.

I would recommend Series9, proper specialists!

Cheers DSK - its in there now as they were the ones who could look at it soonest.

Should know tomorrow what exactly is wrong with it - hopefully it is just the fuel pump and nothing else.

These are good, HAC service centre f*cked my car up and these guys gave me the advice I needed and I managed to put it right based on their expertise. Whilst I was there they were doing some extensive work on a number of BMWs and all looked very thorough and proper.

They seem very good - there was an issue with the part that I wanted to use (it wasn't identical to one that came out and would have needed some bodging to make it work) so they rang me and ran through everything in detail etc.

I like the fact there is no receptionist - when you ring up you speak to a mechanic who explains things etc. Their labour rate is reasonable as well - will definitely consider for futire work.

    Cheers again for the advice.

Glad it went well, not many decent places left these days that do an honest job and charge more realistic rates.

Just dropped my pride and joy at HAC this morning for Insp2... if there is so much as a scratch on her...
Fuming with myself as didnt find these threads until not 10 minutes ago after searching interweb for past few days. Wish I'd seen this now and taken to Series 9 for piece of mind.

Fortunately having run the insp2 checklist last weekend there is absolutely nothing wrong apart from new front tyres required. So if they say there are any problems I know they are messing me about (as I would any garage)

    No problems at all.
They noted front tyres were on way out, and the front disks (not pads-so I knew they werent taking the P) too. But the mechanic asked me how old the fronts were (25k already) and said probably about 3-5k left on them (which Id figured anyway), and the disks could wait to be changed at the next pad change. Exactly what I had in my head before she went in.

Looks like all the fluids were replaced/topped up and oil/filters/plugs and checks done too. Dont forget to book online to get 10% discount too-which brought it in at £225. For that price I really can't complain when Sytner quoted me at £440...

And she was valeted in and out and waxed and polished by looks of things.

Did about 300 miles over weekend and no probs whatsoever

    Shameless plug alert:
If anyone's interested, I'm selling this e46 aux kit:
