My car is now due for a service, the yellow dash 'INSPECTION' light is on, and I want to keep this puppy running tip-top, as it has done since I got it.

I have used the same mechanic for several years, and have a good relationship with him, though he is just a general mechanic and MOT Tester. My question is: Do I need to find a specialist BMW garage? I searched the site for 'glasgow garage' and have found a place that the site member who mentioned it says is a BMW specialist who's nearby, so I can do it if need be. I plan to phone him tomorrow and get a price. Is it worth going to the BMW specialist?

If hes got the tool to reset your service lights and you know him I cant see a problem with going to him!
Just make sure he stamps your service book

I don't know which inspection it is, the yellow light just says 'INSPECTION'. No number. How do I determine what one it is?

If your car has been regularly serviced on the clock, then according to THIS, you are due an oil service. Or then again, it is probably Inspection 1 if you have over run.

I just worked mine out from the service book, luckily inspection 2 was the last one done, so I got inspection 1 done

Gordon the last service should be stamped in the relevant section in the service book
