Hello All - recently I took my 318i for a service at my usual stealership.
My car definately needed a new clutch and a good large service.
The car took 2 days to be serviced and I picked it up no problems.
The next day I spotted lots of fluids on the o/s front wheel, and on closer inspection revealed the power steering rack was leaking at the boots.
I took the car straight back and the guys at the garage said it was a tiny leak and topped me back up.
2 days later again the monster whine started as the atf fluid had gone again.
So I booked my car back in as they hadn't also managed to change the coolant and brake fluids, nor replaced my cracked poly-v belt.
When I picked the car up they informed me that the rack had gone and needed replacing at £700 just for the parts for something that they had broken.
The usual really awesome hot chick I deal with was replaced on my arrival with the ''assistant'' manager, which immediately I knew was in place to make sure I didn't win the argument of liability.
He informed me that Scothall Hampshire was in no way liable to anything that they brake whilst the car is in their workshop (mainly due to cars age).
So I do not recommend taking any CSL classics there!!!
They will destroy it, then charge you uber bucks, whilst talking to you like a BMW robot monotone suit wearing dude.
So i've decided obviously to never go there ever again, and have sourced the steering rack off an awesome shop on ebay called BM spares for £40 with 3 months waranty, bit better than £700!!!
Also when my car came out the first time there was an evil rattle from the rear parcel shelf.
Having removed the rear seats, rear pillar covers, I found that they had not put my rear parcel shelf back properly, only one of the four tabs were in place.
This is not what I expect from a stealership and was very disapointed to say the least as the total cost (get ready) was £1300!!!
Bare in mind my car was on sale on ebay for £800 and not one bid lol.
There's not much I haven't done to my car, new clutch and flywheel, rear RSM's, rubber mounts on control arms, laser allignment, wishbone set, thrust rods and anti roll bar, starter motor, abs sensor, lots of seals and gaskets, and I can't think of any other bits right now.
Now i've found this forum, and boy I love it!!!
Think in terms of support and information this forum is mega.
So from now on i'm going 'ghetto' an buying and servicing various bits myself as my confidence grows.
Will find a BMW specialist for my future mot's and ting.
Sorry Scothall but your service is weak, your staff unfriendly (might aswell paint them grey), but more importantly a complete rip off!

Does anyone feel my pain? Or do people think that Scothall Hampshire rock?

    I feel your pain!

Unfortunately word on the forum is "Avoid the STEALERS like the plague"

It often appears they are incompetant and very expensive and as well as that they're not pleasant to deal with... Oh unless you're loaded and looking to buy a brand new top of the range beemer.

I'd love to win the lotto and go to all the main dealers dressed as a tramp with a briefcase and see which manufacturer takes my money... once the deal is done, then take the new motor back to all the others and leave a dirty number 11 all the way across their forecourt

I remember when I took my coupe to the stealers, had to go in to have the replacement EWS module coded to the vehicle........... THEY LOVED IT!!!

Now that's what it's about! Being into my modifying I look at a car as a blank canvas ready for the likes of myself to show BMW how it should've been done... I think the wheels interior and ice install are what gets them everytime.. Obviously it's not to everyones desire but most who like cars appreciate my efforts

Yes I am a poser that pimps around at 10mph and if their heads don't turn when I creep up then they certainly do when I floor it, she isnt shy and she doesn't do quiet

The sound is awesome and i'm still yet to add the Miltek De-cat section that i've had for about 12 months but never fitted due to teething problems.

Have you tried any of these garges? http://www.yell.com/ucs/UcsSearchAct...arage+Services I searched BMW specialist on yell.com in your area... Some such as Hi-Q etc won't be relevant but it would be worth finding out about the others

Hope it helps you avoid the stealers

    Awesome, you're a legend!
Your car is also lush, am so down with your work.
Would crack on with mine if it were of 2.0l or more.
My rage has been taken out at the kart track yesterday, 1hr 20 mins and over a hundred laps - have skinned my left palm tho on the steering wheel :(

    Don't say that! Oh man..
Just don't want to even start before all else is well.
Next on the list is the rusty bits, under rear badge, one door, and 2 arches - only mini at the moment mostly tiny bubbles under the paint.
I do get anal and cannot ignore these flaws.
Hate people that add bits whilst leaving other bits like that, grrr I wouln't be able to sleep at night!
Im sure your weapon is mint, think i'd keep that in a garage with a de-humidifier and a doorman (armed).
