Hello All - recently I took my 318i for a service at my usual stealership.
My car definately needed a new clutch and a good large service.
The car took 2 days to be serviced and I picked it up no problems.
The next day I spotted lots of fluids on the o/s front wheel, and on closer inspection revealed the power steering rack was leaking at the boots.
I took the car straight back and the guys at the garage said it was a tiny leak and topped me back up.
2 days later again the monster whine started as the atf fluid had gone again.
So I booked my car back in as they hadn't also managed to change the coolant and brake fluids, nor replaced my cracked poly-v belt.
When I picked the car up they informed me that the rack had gone and needed replacing at £700 just for the parts for something that they had broken.
The usual really awesome hot chick I deal with was replaced on my arrival with the ''assistant'' manager, which immediately I knew was in place to make sure I didn't win the argument of liability.
He informed me that Scothall Hampshire was in no way liable to anything that they brake whilst the car is in their workshop (mainly due to cars age).
So I do not recommend taking any CSL classics there!!!
They will destroy it, then charge you uber bucks, whilst talking to you like a BMW robot monotone suit wearing dude.
So i've decided obviously to never go there ever again, and have sourced the steering rack off an awesome shop on ebay called BM spares for £40 with 3 months waranty, bit better than £700!!!
Also when my car came out the first time there was an evil rattle from the rear parcel shelf.
Having removed the rear seats, rear pillar covers, I found that they had not put my rear parcel shelf back properly, only one of the four tabs were in place.
This is not what I expect from a stealership and was very disapointed to say the least as the total cost (get ready) was £1300!!!
Bare in mind my car was on sale on ebay for £800 and not one bid lol.
There's not much I haven't done to my car, new clutch and flywheel, rear RSM's, rubber mounts on control arms, laser allignment, wishbone set, thrust rods and anti roll bar, starter motor, abs sensor, lots of seals and gaskets, and I can't think of any other bits right now.
Now i've found this forum, and boy I love it!!!
Think in terms of support and information this forum is mega.
So from now on i'm going 'ghetto' an buying and servicing various bits myself as my confidence grows.
Will find a BMW specialist for my future mot's and ting.
Sorry Scothall but your service is weak, your staff unfriendly (might aswell paint them grey), but more importantly a complete rip off!
Does anyone feel my pain? Or do people think that Scothall Hampshire rock?
