    Hi

A few days after taking delivery of my used 1 series, the oil level light came on. When I checked the level it was on minimum. I contacted BMW to ask them to confirm that the oil level is one of the 120 checks carried out on used BMWs and they told me "I can confirm that the oil is monitored as part of the AUC check, to ensure that this is not below the minimum level". Is it just me or would anyone else expect them to top it up rather than just say "yes, its not below minimum so its fine"?

This is my first (and probably my last) BMW - I am not used to this kind of bull***t.

    Not happy

dealers can be good or shite they vary but certainly this doesn't impress. generally thay aren't what they used to be and neither are the cars but that's probably true of other makes too. This is what all the efficiency savings advocated by modern management theory adds up to.

Agree with the above. I've had an AUC which had obviously been properly checked and everything done and another which was the opposite.

We used to put all the levels on the Max.... but on a side note, can you not request a copy of the AUC checklist? i would of thought you should be able to? After all you have more than likely paid good money over what you would pay on a private sale for the peace of mind, and if that means seeing 120 ticks i think you should be allowed to.

    All my opinion of course.

You're not supposed to top up a BMW till the light comes on and then it takes a litre to full, so 6 or 7 litres left in engine. If it was just above minimum I would expect them to leave it, unless specifically asked to top up the oil.
