In december i went in to the cooper reading dealers and requested an inspection 1, they quoted me £189.

Just called round a few indys to see what they would quote, and tcsautos from the recommended list on the above sticky, quotes £220.

I then called back to cooper to book up an inspection 1, and they are now quoting me £250. Is there an new inspection for cars four years and older? because he was adamant anything over four years old is a flat fee of £250

Am i missing something here or am i being a total melon head?

    cheers

Is it an inspection 1 or inspection 2? IIRC an inspection 2 is more involved and is the more expensive one.

Inspection 1 mate not 2. I asked for an inspection 1 and he asked if it was over 4 years old, which it is, he then says oh it will be an plus four years service sir which is 250+VAT. So i asked no, i just need an inspection 1 and he said the same again...

I know Stratsone has slashed their prices for all E46 and E39's - obviously in the hope of attracting older cars back and making their money back on any issues - can't remember the exact prices, but it was a lot less than my Indy.

An MOT is now £20 from them!

Could it be related to the increase in VAT?

I paid £195 for my inspection I at my indy this summer, which was only £2 better than BMW, but the 'service adviser' was really cagey about what they did / would do, so I sacked them off and went to a garage that I know and trust!

I don't think VAT would make that much of an increase.....wasn't there some advert in the papers a while back advertising fixed price servicing for E46's from BMW? I'm 99% certain that an inspection 1 would be less than £200.

Nor do I, but stealers seem to like to round things up when it comes to servicing etc!

I would have thought that most of them would be like Stratstone, who made it seem like a decision from BMW UK to get some business back from the indy's, by slashing the costs of work on the older generation cars.
