A few months ago I took my 330d auto into an independent BMW specialist in Aldershot, not naming names at this point however people on here will know who I am talking about. The issue was lumpy tick over and number 4 injector was the culprit so under my warranty direct warranty this was replaced. The problem of the lumpy tick over started again and infortunately as we had moved out of the area I took my car this time to another forum recommended specialist in Caversham Berkshire only to be told that number 4 injector again was the issue. This time however it was the way in which the previous garage had installed this that had caused the problem, the injector had been forced in at such an angle it us still in the garage as they try and remove it without damaging the head. As well as this they have found other issues with the previous garage quality if work, however my biggest concern is that warranty direct will not contribute to the cost of putting right the Aldershot based mechanics butchery of my car as they say they do not cover faulty workmanship. Please can anybody help with what I can do next I am lumbered with a bill so far of over £1100 and no way of seeing what I can do to recoup it.

Is there any reason why you can not contact the garage that did the original work? It sounds to me like they have a lot to answer for. I would get in contact with trading standards if their response is not satisfactory, bearing in mind the garage you are dealing with currently can help prove your case if called upon to write a report.

I am no legal advisor, but it is clear that you need to have a chat with the garage in Aldershot to find out if they can offer some compensation for the poor work that THEY carried out.

No offence but warranties are usually there to cover mechanical failure, not to rectify poor quality labour.

EDIT: Lifted this from the Trading Standards website:

When you take your car to a garage for servicing or repair, you are making a legally binding contract with the garage owner and the laws you can look to for protection are the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 and the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002. These laws give you statutory rights and you are entitled to expect that the work be carried out with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time at a reasonable charge. If a part is replaced, the new part should be of satisfactory quality, fit for the purpose and as described.

If a fault has not been repaired properly, you should allow the garage the chance to rectify it. If they fail to do so, you may be entitled to get the work done elsewhere and recover the cost from the garage. If the garage fits a part, which turns out to be faulty, and it has not been fitted very long, you may be entitled to a refund, or you could ask for the part to be replaced. If you pay for the servicing or repairs by credit card, and if the work costs more than £100, you are protected by the Consumer Credit Act 1974 which makes the credit card company equally liable. It is a criminal offence to charge for work which has not been carried out and any such complaints should be forwarded to Consumer Direct (new website).

Beautiful car... But everytime I look into your beautiful eyes I feel the contempt that you have for my bank account.
