I ordered a tie rod and track rod end for my car the other day and being in the motor trade i asked if i could get a good deal. (what you would expect from your main parts supplier)
    Anyway £18.75 for the end
    £12.50 for the tie rod
+ Vat it all came to £37.50.

i thought this was a bit on the expendsive side but i needed the parts then so i bought them.

just looked online and their website shows the parts as £13.80 (INC VAT) and £8.16 (INC VAT)
    £21.96 in total

i know its only £15 ish difference but im pissed off, especially as with our bimmer forum discount i could have got everything for £16.47!!
    under half price.

Im feeling like ringing up and complaining.

Tbh it depends on the make of stuff you were supplied. Some of the other 'makes' are proper crap quality.

Are you complaining you didn't get sufficient Trade discount or that if you'd have ordered via online using the forums discount code you'd have saved even more?

Either way telephone them and ask for an explanation, it could simply be that prices online are cheaper? If thats the case always order online in future.

Hope you get some satisfactory conclusion, tho I can't see them refunding the difference!

a bit of both really mate i would have thought working for a nationwide garage who use them as their main supplier would have been able to sort me out. regardless of whether it was bought through the company or not.

i could have got it cheaper online even if i didnt use the forum discount but i dont think that is the point.

Maybe just maybe to a certain degree they rely on the Trade not knowing retail online prices can be infact be a cheaper option ?

I'd still ring them for an explanation tho

phoned them up today and after a while on the phone the parts should have gone onto a special trade account that we already have, so im only gonna have to pay £15 something instead of £37.50.
    Sorted
