    Hey guys and girls,

So my car (Bmw e36 318is 1999) is having abit of a downer at the moment and lots of things screwing up on it..

Had the rear left tyre go completly flat on me and since then on every bump/corner, horrible banging sounds come from that direction.

Took it to a garage and they ramped it up and said it was the 'rear bush'.

    Fine - fair enough.

However they want well over £300 to do the whole job and im not so up for that..

My main question is.. what exactly does he mean by rear bush? I want to just buy 1 online but Im finding so many different things im abit confused. Im finding 'rear arm' 'control joints' and all sorts.. can someone tell me exactly what it is I need, and even a link so I can just go buy it!?

Secondly.. I use to have a really good mechanic, but hes a pain in the ass and can never actually manage to get hold of him, let alone get a decent turn around time when hes got the car.

I want a DECENT mechanic/electrical guy who will just do the job im paying for and relatively quickly. Im fed up of places like kwikfit because they always **** something up or "oh no we dont do that here" grrr!!

I'm in Southampton. Anyone know anyone? Anyone you've used? Even yourself??

What I need doing to it:

    1. 'Bush' replaced.
    2. Angle eyes fixed.
    3. Remote central locking doesn't always work - Highly highly possible just a dead remote battery.
    4. HT Leads needs replacing - will probably do this myself tho.

I just want to give it to someone with a list of random problems.. then a few days later get it back and all of them be gone.

Is that really so much to ask!??!

All the rear bushes can be a pain if replacing with a new one, but if you fit powerflex bushes, it makes it a lot easier.

Probably the rear trailing arm bush, common candidate, number 4 here, RealOEM.com * BMW E36 318is REAR AXLE SUPPORT/WHEEL SUSPENSION

Does not cost £300 to replace, not even half of that price! Is easy if you have the tool.

Other options are rear shock absorber top mount, easy to do, or rear rose joint, easy enough to do with the tool, none cost £300 to fix!
