I purchased an engine from what was supposedly a reputable company. The engine was described as a 'Short' engine which meant all the ancillarys (alternator, aircon pump, PAS pump etc etc) were missing. This I could live with as I could swap bits over from the engine I am replacing. When the engine was delivered it was obvious to both myself and my mechanic that the engine was out of a fire damaged car. This means not only have missing parts have to be swapped over but also plastic components that are damaged from the fire.
I was charged £945 for the engine, I contacted the supplier and asked for a good will gesture refund seeing as they neglected to tell me it was fire damaged, they offered £50. There are other arguements like I didn't recieve the engine overnight, as I ordered the engine on 30/11/10 and only recieved it today 07/12/10.
They have incurred me extra costs such as car hire because they didn't deliver the engine on time.
I will post the name of the company if its not against forum rules.

On the delivery front, bear in mind if this supplier was northern based, then the horrific weather up there would be out of their control.

IMO if there is no legal's going on between you and the supplier then there should not be an issue with naming and shaming...however the company may try and sue the boss so therefore it is up to the boss's discretion......

Personal feeling's though is if the company want's to f*ck you over then other people should be warned about them as they could end up in a similar scenario...

Ok no legals going on at present but I hope there will be in the future. The company is well known so I will tell people in PM if necessary.
On the delivery front I did take 2 days out of the equation because of the weather but 7 days for overnight delivery is still extracting the urine.

If it was a Sheffield based supplier, then being up there last week, then a week would have been pretty good. It was horrific.

Any threads naming suppliers like this have to be deleted Im afraid due to legal threats in the past for libel!!

Please pm me the suppliers name

    THanks

UPS and DHL are both on a 4 day backlog up North. My local UPS depot isn't even allowing pickup and aren't even bothering to scan items when they are dispatched etc. My tracking number online for the last 4 days has said dispatched at 8.30 am then back at the depot with a new delivery date by 11 am.

Serious issues in North of England with delivery companies.

So all in all my delivery in 20 miles away from me and I can't get to it and it can't be delivered yet!

Update on this situation. Engine fitted, started first time, once warmed up it started misfiring. Mechs inspected engine looks like blown head gasket and the timing is definitely out.
Luckily I have had decent advice from consumer direct and the supplier is screwed.
