Reminds me of the time my CD 6 disk changer stopped working and I asked the local dealer to see if they could fix it. They charged me £50 for looking at it but still didn't fix it. I found out (after scouring the t'internet) that it was just a reset on the unit. I was quite upset that the dealers didn't know this and I wasted £50. I was happy that I still had a working unit though. Lesson learnt. Dealers are and never have been cheap for any type of work, especially diagnostics.

Advice - learn lesson and move on (do the work yourself or go somewhere cheaper).

It could have been a few faults with the window. Power supply, glass clips, etc..
Needs to be stripped out to find out the fault.

The regulator and motor are nearly £180. So say an hour and half labour + Vat.
Not over the top price really.
FYI it was £72 for the part(s) and the rest was labour.

You may get the odd favour thrown in by small loyal companies but not these guys

I have used Wellsway in the past and their service was good and my visit involved having to arrange for the Coupe to be transported their and back so that the EWS module could be replaced and programmed to the car
I am pleased with their service dont get me wrong. I always take my car there because i know they're professional, efficient and for the most part will endeavour to get my car back to me asap. Its a hassle free service and its worth paying the extra, which actually isnt that much anyway. Small garages are just as capable of ripping you off in my experience. I used to have a Golf and have to say in the 4 years i owned that and always used the main VW dealer, the service was nowhere near as good as at BMW. Furthermore whenever i've gone to any back street garage for anything i've always just come away thinking: 'f**king bunch of monkeys'... and vow never to go near one again..

My nearest independent is in bristol, so a bit out of the way, with only a small difference in labour rates compared with main dealer... and besides i wasnt pleased with their service last time i used them.
