The grey bottom part below the bumper has scratched and chipped off, im pretty certian it's a seperate part to the bumper? Anybody confirm this?

Also, anybody had this part replaced? just wondering about how much it would cost? Cooper BMW York wan't me to take it in to get 'evaluated' but im not paying over the odd's when its only held on by a couple of screws.

If you had added more of the cars details you would possibly have got a response, but without knowing which X1 model you have it's a bit tricky to add a link to the part in question.

Hi & Welcome , What is the new X1 like, my wife has a 2007 X3, and said she likes the look of the new X1, apart from the bumper are you pleased with the car?

Hi Leigh, I think you're only the second X1 owner to post! If I remember rightly, the silvery bit below the bumper was an option on mine so presumably it is available separately..? Unfortunately with the cars still being so new you might not have much choice other than taking it to a dealer I'd guess.

Steve, I've been meaning to write up a little X1 review for some time now I've hit 6 months of ownership - here's my original post http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...ner-on-t45084/. So far I'd sum it up by saying:

    +
    Practical
    Economical
Handles well for a tall-ish car
Like the 'semi-command' (bit too close to semi commando to me) driving position
Still quite rare (round by me anyway) so get stopped and asked about it especially as I specified 'model designation deletion'

    -
Build quality is not in the same league as my E46 330 vert - nothing's fallen off but the interior plastics just feel a bit cheap in places
The diesel lump is the same (I think) as in my mate's 318d but it's noticeable quieter and smoother in his - the X1 has a bit of the taxi rattle about it sometimes

All in all, given it was bought for the reasons in my original post, it's doing its job well and I still get to drive a BM even when I'm not in the 330 so that's nice! If I didn't want the extra ride height I think I'd have gone for a 3 Touring... but that's me personally. Marriage is about compromise eh?!

    Nice one tim

My wives X3 is not the same build quality as my 330 either, but it's not bad.

My kids do their best to muck things up in the back, but kids would do that in any car.

    Oh and as for compromise!!!!!
