Iv used them on a couple of occassions most recently for an inspection II service which seemed a reasonable cost but was finished almost an hour after dropping the car off which seemed very quick - too quick in my opinion as the coolant hadn't been topped up they then tried to charge me to replace the brake fluid because when they had previously replaced this only 6 months before they hadn't reset the computer or stamp my book to that effect.

I also had some accident repairs carried out on the car and ended up taking it to BM dealer who found another £1800 worth of damage including driveshaft and a couple of other things.

Paperwork side of things was a shambles - the invoices had a different reg and chassis number to my own and even after pointing this out they still didn't send me new ones.

Some other folk have had ok experiences with them but for what its worth I'm not going back as I feel although their prices seem reasonable I would question the quality of work.

    Hi,
Thanks for the info, had somebody else use them for a inspection 1 but only done a oil change and said they also done a safety inspection and charged £160 cash but On futher investigation it became clear they never done anything, other than put the car on a ramp for an hour and rest his lights and stamp his book.

Tried to confront them but they said the work was done and as having no way to prove it otherwise was left with it.

Dont think ill be using them thats for sure.

Its hard to find someone in the west of Scotland you can trust even the dealers are at it. Ill keep looking.

    Thanks.

Bit of a long shot, as he doesn't seem to have been on the forum for months, but try PMing this guy.

He lives in Paisley and told me ages ago that apparently there's a former BMW mechanic located in Lochwinnoch who is very good and well-priced.

Never pursued it much further than that, but gotta be worth a crack, eh?

Also, a Merc-driving friend of mine told me last week that she uses some guy in Maryhill near the canal at the Milngavie end, can't remember the name, but it was something to do with Perfromance... you could try Googling that kind of thing and seeing what you come up with. That guy was recommended as being very good.

Just for future reference, but when an oil change is done unless the mechanic is a tool the oil filter should ALWAYS be changed.

So if you suspect the oil hasn't been changed check if the filter is new, if it's a new filter then things should be ok. You could always pull the dip stick and check the oil too, if it's blacker than black its not been changed.

I absolutely detest using dealers, your probably better off finding a local garage with a scanner that will read the BMW faults. There is a guy in Hillington (i can't remember his name) who does a lot of rally/competition stuff, he was able to fix my mondeo when Ford couldn't. Otherwise these are about the only two i know of in the Glasgow area.
