i have used B&W Auto.. they were dear with the price and i had my remapped done from them and also changed rocker cover gasket and timing chain tensioner, and advice about sump not leaking as they never done ever on one of my models.. kinda seemed good and reasonable for an experienced guy.. so far so good although i do get oil leaking which according to them (when i went second time) its the oil cap broken and cannot be replaced unless the whole rocker cover is changed. also i dont know if its related or not but i do still have grinding'sh when cold.

i didnt have any problems with them the first time, but i didnt like when i used them the second time.. they charged for diagnostics even though they did the job and charged labour and parts etc.. (others i have been to dont charged diagnostic if u get work done from them)

experience i would say is ok'sh with them..id try and use them again.. but because some of my problems are still there (which i dont know if its because of other reasons or same) i would say check them and experience yourself.

I would not use B&w, my friend had a very bad experience with them. He took it elsewhere and got things sorted

I've used Autotech in the past. They're really good.

Does anyone know what their hourly rate is at the mo? (I'll call tomorrow)

I'm going to go to Birds this time as they know the car I have bought.

Birds are good, but the owner is a bit "off". The engineers are very good, and the garage bays are as clean as a F1 pitt.

I used k&m autotechniks exclusively with my E60 530d. They knew the car for 6 years until i sold it, and there was nothing that couldn't be sorted. Once my warranty finishes on the X3, i will be back there. Mick and Greg are brilliant
