Hello all, I'm new here and all because of a very poor service having had my 2007 520D break down in Spain.
Basically what happened is that the vehicle went into limp mode about 60 miles North of Madrid and as such, due to the terrain the car was unable to make it up the hills. The limp mode I had would not permit the car to exceed about 20 mph and as for hills, this was a no - no.
I had the car transported to BMW Madrid and had various diagnostics undertaken at a cost of €920. As I was returning back to the UK, the car had to be left in Spain during this testing. I returned to the UK. Following the tests, I was told that to correct the problems, it would cost more that 9000. At this point, I requested that the car be returned to the UK. This was done.
On return I would have expected a full report to have been left in the car as to the finding of the diagnostic report, but nothing had been provided. I have contacted BMW Madrid by email requesting this and, to this point, there has been no reply.
A BMW dealer in the UK says that the diagnostic shall have to be undertaken again. This is crazy and it is also pointed out that BMW dealers between countries do not communicate. Trying to speak to anyone at BMW Madrid has not resulted in anything as they do not speak English and I don't speak Spanish.
So far, I think that the BMW garage has taken money for nothing and at this moment I am unable to resolve the problems without additional diagnostic being undertaken here in the UK.
Very poor service from BMW Madrid.
Comments appreciated on this one. Ta.
