    Hello,

Sorry, if these are all newbie questions as I wasn't sure where to start.

    1. I need to get my BMW318i (E46) serviced in or near Croydon.

I got it off a BMW dealer about 1.5yrs back but it is about 6yrs old and done only 22k miles so far. (It was 4.5yrs old and had done 18k miles when I got it as a BMW approved car from a authorised dealer).

The dashboard indicator shows it is about 600miles now before a service is required. The not sure what service I need... an Oil Inspection or Inspection 1 / 2 ? I am thinking this may be the first service in 6yrs - so its an oil service..?

    2. The back door does not shut properly as the rim has come loose and needs fixing. So, the dashboard/console shows the door being open even if it is shut.

With a car this age, does it cost a lot to go to a BMW authorised dealer?
I don't mind it if I get charged a bit extra with the authorised dealer - just don't want to pay hundreds of £s for a service and repair.

I see this on the dealer website > http://www.coopercroydonbmw.co.uk/se...value_service/
This does not seem bad to have a service for £129... but will there be lots of extras that they will sock me as replacements once they have the car..?

Do other local garages have BMW engine diagnostics, parts etc. to service? ..or is engine diagnostics etc. not required to service a car?

Can you help with some info & advice please..?

    Many Thanks!

They can only advise you need this & that, you can say no..... but if doing at same time will save separate labour charge then maybe do it.

    or

If you are quite handy yourself, listen to what is needed and do the rest your self & take the service , and of course most important the dealer stamp in the bible

checking them out myself on friday, my work covered by warranty, but over the phone sounds quite cocky(the cow on the other side of the line) but sounds reasonable.
TBH if i owned your car ill do myself lol spend more on quality plugs & Q-oil lol.
