    You may have seen this on other cars, the cause is that bmw cut corners to save money and dont apply a clear coat to the shuts of the bonnet, only paint that flakes off over time.
    Bought some paint today and sorted it!
    Hope this helps others that may have the same problem.











    Looks perfect now! took about 1.5 hours.

    Yer, the newer the car the worse the paint gets.
    My old 1999 3 series was painted and clearcoated all over, you could polish the engine bay, everything you cant see on the z4 is grey primer :(

    my brothers evo is terrible like that exept even the colour fades out before it gets there

    but a little time and yours looks so much better like those kinda jobs real satisfaction

    Much better,
    only problem there is at resale, anyone looking under the bonnet will see the overspray and think it's had a whole front end lol
    If your not living on the edge, your taking up too much space!

    before and after pictures:-)
    (i did wipe off the overspray once the paint had dried, it was sat on a layer of dust and dirt and just rubbed off.)
