How often should you wax your car?

I've been cleaning my e36 328i sport once a week fully wash, wax etc

How often does it need to be done?

Also i don't quite understand how wax works once i wash my car again does it wash the old layer of wax off or is the old layer still there?

And anyone got an alternative wax as good as the Auto Gym Wax which is 30 pound a shot but cheaper?

waste of wax doing it every week mate!

get yourself some hard wax (collinite 476 is a good value option!) and make sure your using a "wax friendly" or ph neutral car shampoo

I only use hard wax and realistically you shouldn't have to wax your car more than once every few months..

Washing a car will not take the wax off (assuming both parameters above are covered)..

don't get me wrong, waxing every week isn't going to hurt.. but it's mainly wasted effort

as above, no need to wax every week for protection

i tend to wax every 3rd wash in the summer just to keep it glossy

in the winter, i just make sure it has had a good coat of wax before the winter comes and just wash it evey couple of weeks

I use megs wax on mine, found it's the only one I can buy in shops that's not too expensive and gives my silver car a good wet / shiney look.

Am going to use a nice hard wax before winter gets here and also under seal the car just for abit of extra protection for winter. With the salt on the roads and that

I use demon shine spray wax once a week and fully wash the car before hand and my 330ci comes up a treat. Have used demon shine for about a year now and it works great.
