thanks for replies everyone, and Johnky, that 630 is looking really nice. mine is black sapphire with chateau dakota leather (dark red). looks like we have similar taste in cars as your leather is also looking red.

Got a quick question actually. My 630 is a convertible and basically I had the seal & protect done by BMW when I bought the car last month. Long story short I ended up getting full refund on it as I felt it was a rip off. But what I've noticed is that there is white polish on the edges of the rubber panel where the soft top folds in to. Have tried washing it but it's not coming off. There is also sOme similar white streaks on other parts of body work which is not coming off with car shampoo. Any suggestions? Thanks

You mix it up in a trigger bottle and it removes bugs, tree sap etc..

Any white marks on the plastic I use silicon spray from halfords (only thing I do get from there) it's does a similar job as back to black stuff

silicon spray is useful for door seals etc as well

marks on the paintwork I would guess at using clay bar? others in this thread should be able to answer this part, what sort of marks are on the paintwork?

thanks mate, we sure do have similar taste. I wanted to go for convertible too, just that insurance was crazy so..
beige is easy to get dirty and black/silvers are boring....
and chateau dakota leather does look very, very nice.

I'm not sure about the white stain though, rubber panels are difficult to clean when it's got something on it. i would try claying off or clean it with alcohol. (don't use alcohol on rubber bits though)
let me know if that doesn't work either.

For getting polish residue off the plastic trim, autoglym fast glass usually works with a stiff toothbrush!

As for the white marks on the paint, would need a pic really to have a guess. If you can feel something there then have a go at claying it off, otherwise it may need an abrasive polish or paint cleanser to get it off.

Thanks for all the help guys. Have taken pics of the white deposits and will post them when I get time to transfer onto computer. Can't do it straight from phone.

Johnky yeah insurance was a real killer. About £1700 for 10 month policy with £1100 excess!!! I'm 28 with 4 yrs no claims. To be honest it was really painful paying that, as I had a vectra 1.9cdti before this, which was MUCH cheaper. It's taken me over a month just to get over the excessive fuel consumption. My vectra was 50mpg! Lol so glad I didn't got for 645 though. How are you finding the car? It's a lovely car, but u pay the price for it!

£1700 for 10month policy with £1100 excess for 28 years old guy with 4 NCB seems quite high actually. I guess it's that premium from convertible.
haha i'm pretty sure after you've driven 645 and experience the difference in fuel consumption, you must've been like... especially when you just had 50mpg car..
I'm happy with my car, very much.. but it's just that engine which doesn't give enough grunt..
before my 630i i used to drive 335i(DCT) and still own ML350, i miss that grunt and instant gear changes in 335 but 6 series certainly feels better as a GT cruise and looks way better personally..
hopefully next year when it's time to renew my insurance i could upgrade to 650i. surprisingly, the insurance quote of cls55 amg comes quite similar to 650i, so i'm a lil.. confused
anyways, hope you enjoy ur motor and talk to u soon
