Sunny weather today means im going to clean the car today using this procedure iv developed:

    1) spray rims with water, apply maguires alloy cleaner, allow to foam up, clean with brush wash off.
    2) Hose car down with water
    3) Using 2 bucket method wash car with maguires shampoo and conditioner
    4) Wash off using jet spray
    5) Dry car using water magnet
    6) Apply maguires prep spray, then apply clay bar

    7) Phase one of waxing using autoglym super resin polish, apply by hand, buff using machine, go over by hand to catch any missed bits

    8) Phase two of waxing using autoglym ultra polish, apply by hand, buff using machine, go over by hand to catch any missed bits

    9) Phase three of waxing using autoglym extra polish, apply by hand, buff using machine, go over by hand to catch any missed bits

    10) Final wipe with autoglym finishing cloth

    11) Spray maguires widow cleaner onto the outside of the windows, wipe off

    12) Phew!!

what you reckon? i have both maguires and autoglym products which one do u think is best?

Also what is the best number of coats of wax to apply? is it possible to apply too many? lol

    Thanks

I used to be a huge fan of Auto Glym until I tried Meguiars

Sounds like a busy day you have ahead of you

Please be sure to add before and after photo's

I will now move this thread into the detailing section of the forum

That's okay, cleaning comes under the detailing section

Have a browse through at some of the other threads as there are some awesome guides. Keep an eye out for Rob (Gleam Machine) his work is fantastic

Iv used loads of Autoglym products, and hav been disapointed big time. And yes i did follow instructions lol.

I now use Meguiers products ,and im well pleased with them.

What i would like to ask is iv seen the Meguiers clay bar in the shops. But been a bit weary of trying it.Heard stories of claying going wrong, paint off back to primer etc.

I have a few swirl marks on my car, caused by previous owner using car washes. Is Meguiers clay bar idiot proof, any first hand experience findings would be useful to me.

    Many thanks

Clay bar is not going to strip your paint. You just have to make sure that the surface you use it on is well lubricated with detailer spray or soapy water, preferably made from car wash. It will not remove any swirl marks either. For that you need to use a cutting polish.

Thanks Neal, for info! What does it actually do then? lol. Do you hav to be extra careful with cutting polish? Can overdoing that take too much paint off?? Many thanks

Just spent 4 hours cleaning my car

    1) Washed used magureis shampoo and conditioner (bucket with grit gaurd)
    2) dry used water magnet

    4) Maguires clay bar
    5) Autoglym aqua wax
    6) Autoglym extra gloss protection
