Hey guys...looking into some new mods that could improve the look of my car. I know it's only a 318i so I have decided to focus on looks instead of power...

What do you guys think of tinted tail lights?

Do you think it could look nice?

If ya look here for a sec you can see what I'm talking about(go down the page a bit)
    http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...t=precut+tints

Main question is - Is to too "chav" and is it also legal here in the UK?

Tricky one to answer as this is subjective and down to personal taste! If you do tint your lights I think it should compliment the design of the car, for example on my old E30 touring all I did was tint the rear indicators red to match the rest of the light, subtle but effective.

What about just tinting the clear part of the light with a smoked black tint to match the tone/shade of your paint colour? Just darken them a bit so they aren't so obvious.......it's something I'm considering myself but if anybody can oblige with a bit of photoshopping maybe?

Alternatively what about tiniting the clear part with a red tint to make them uniform in colour?

I think on black or darker coloured cars like yours they look good. That Black E46 M3 looks wicked with the tinted rear lights on the forum you gave a link to.

I'd agree with the above post about tinting them lightly to match the colour of your car, I would recommend playing around in Photoshop or asking someone else to so you get an idea of how it looks before doing it in case

I really like the look of that black M3 with the lights, not quite sure how it would go with the steel gray tbh...any photoshopers in town? I tried it myself, but it didn't come out ok..also it looks a bit diff, cos the coupes and saloons have different tail lights:

Very poor attempt by me, i think i've done it too dark!

Here you go Kev I just had a really quick go, it's not perfect but it's good enough.
I think this shade of tint would look really good. Hope this helps

Yup it sure is but I want it to be reversible if I get tired of it or I get pulled by the cops...so this seems the best option!

Anyone know where to buy some decent film for this - how would I do it? I really like ur PS Joe mate..although I probably would make it slightly darker!

it is reversible, 2 pack thinners get it off again easily.

failing that you could do the old chav 'pair of tights' method
