you know those moments when you think "I'm such a tit"

I was in a rush this morning. My windows were icy, so while the screens demisted themselves, I grabbed the first thing to hand in the car - a bottle of Armani Aqua Gio edt, and removed the ice with the bottom of said bottle.

The side windows are now covered in deep scratches.

Anyone know if they can be repaired? Or am I going to have to source a new set of windows?

I've tried a turtle wax scratch remover, and it made the glass beautiful and shiny, but didn't remove the scratches (which one can feel when running ones finger nail over it).

    help?

oh and yes, I've bought a proper scraper.

There are ways of repairing chips in windscreens but i'm not sure if it would repair scratches... Be interested to know though

    Just did a quick searchhttp://www.autoglass.co.uk/Replacing-a-side-window.195.0.html

Unlike a windscreen, in most cases, if a side window is damaged it will need to be replaced.
At Autoglass®, we only use glass manufactured to OEM standards, whether sourced from original equipment manufacturers or other suppliers, ensuring that the glass we fit is as good as the original piece of glass we are replacing.

hmm that doesn't sound promising, I'd anticipate a £600 bill minimum to replace all four windows. Would be cheaper to smash them with a brick and claim on insurance* :(

Think I'm going to keep an eye out in the for sale section, but might just leave it until I need / want to sell.

*I will NOT be doing this!!

Unfortunatly glass is the same as if it were bodywork , if you can fel the scratches with your fingernail you will not be able to remove. i work at a windscreen firm and the only polish i would recomend for glass is jewellers rouge. if you ring your insurance and say you have heavy scratching on the glass they usually let you claim as it is classed as unsadfe if disturbing your vision

I have an issue with my BMW 330ci Sport! I seem to have dirt stuck in the door card and when i raised the window, its leaving smears of dirt on the window and hairline scratches! Do you think I need to replace the seals or is there anything else I could do to sort it out? Also I just rang my insurance company and they said I am able to replace the glass at the cost of £70 or get it repaird for free. Will this affect my claims? Does anybody know how to remove 330ci Sport facelift door cards and source a cheap original BMW window seal? Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated! Hassan.

    wont affect your no claims,
surely a scrapyard would be about £30-40 for a side window.
