My rear bumper has some peeling laquer and has dropped slightly at both sides, a local garage has quoted me £100 to remove the bumper respray the bit thats peeling then re-fit properly.

Is this an ok price? I've no idea.

    Cheers

hey watty...depends on how the bumper is held on in the first place...if its like mine..which has the brackets moulded too the bumper and therfor when it dropped the rason for it was the bracket had broke...bmw glued it back up because they wouldve had too replace the full bumper...£700 inc spraying....cost me £70 just too glue it...so make sure it can be adjusted...other than that £100 sounds not too bad.

The bumper looks like its attached with some clips attached to the body work which are all still there, they guy said sometimes if they have been bumped the shockers on the bumper don't spring back and you're left with the bumper off the runners/clips?

He talked a good game, but not sure if its BS or if he knows what he is doing!

Would say that's not too bad - I got a similar quote for painting mine as some old t**t hit it when pulling in next to me.

I think there is a replaceable mount system just behind the rear wheels (I know mine's dropped because they snapped the plastic holding it in place off). Also, I know on the Compact numbers there are some little flexibke teeth (not sure how to describe them) on the top that clip into something under the lights and these can fail over time.

This is the mounting bit that the coffin dodger broke on mine:

Since then, its dropped on one side.

Cheers Sam, it looks similar although my bracket is metal. Think I'm going to go with the quote, guy seems genuine and is local.
