    Hi

I have a 320i 1995 that doesn't have a front arm rest and I'm used to having one in my other car.

Will any of the E36 arm rests from any year fit into mine?

What parts would I need to get?

Is it a straight swap over?

The rear seat is a fixed one and not split. Its the one with a centre arm rest with twin cup holder.

Is it possible to fit rear head rests to this seat?
I can't see any where that they would fit into.

The front arm rest will fit.
You have to remove the centre console and the handbrake lever. The armrest sandwiches between the floor and the handbrake lever. You also have to cut some sections of the carpet so the armrest fits flush. The bolt holes for fixing the armrest are already in the floor of the car so you will just need the bolts
It took me about 1.5 hours to install one in my E36. When you get the armrest PM me and ill talk you through it in more detail. Just make sure you get the matching centre console with the armrest

    OK, will do.

The arm rest that I've been offered is from a 1993 but he hasn't got back to me yet.
On the centre console, it is in two peace's the front peace with the window switches and a back peace that goes around the hand brake.

Do I need both peace's or just the one that goes around the hand brake?

Just want to make sure I get all the bits I need.

Brilliant. When he gets in touch I will get the complete armrest that goes around the hand brake and all screws to secure it. Hopefully I been in touch soon.

I am having trouble finding rear headrests that match.

Has anyone fitted front headrests in the rear, can this be done, will it look right?

    Thanks

Here is a diagram showing the parts that make up the centre arm rest assembly http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...00&hg=51&fg=35

Front head rests will fit in the rear. You will first have to ensure that you have the holes for them. If you do not then take a pilot drill, lay in the boot on your back and send the pilot drill up through the metal head rest tubes that are already welded in place the drill will pass through the parcel shelf liner enabling you to send a correct size drill bit through from the top.

The surrounds for the shelf are available from BMW and the head rests will just slot straight into position

I was hoping adding an armrest was going to be an easy 5 minute job
