I'm against them tbh,I've never put my car through one because in the past I have seen appalling finishes left on cars afterwards(spider webbing, marring etc)

C'mon guys, that feeling when you have just finished waxing and take a few steps back to check out your work

    Handwash wins everytime

I always try to wash mine myself because I enjoy it and since we've moved my pressure washer is permanently set up so there is'nt much messing about, I try to wait until the Missus is out though or I get an Audi to do too. Through the properly cold and dark winter months when the roads are covered in salt and crap I dont mind letting the Euro's do it, the trick is to go first thing when they've just got all the stuff out and make sure the bloke who holds the whip is there because you'll find you get a better result. Also, at our one there's one or two rather lovely Eastern ladies that are'nt afraid to do the low bits.

i've never ever washed a car by hand. Doesnt mean my car isnt my pride and joy or that i look after it any less than the next person. It might get 1 car was a year and then maybe a professional valet every now and then. that said it usually geta clean too when it gets serviced so thats a couple of times a year too.

to be fair mate, most of my cars get part ex'd or sold on ebay and have very high mileage when they're sold. I'd rather have a car with an impeccable history, parts replaced when they've needed to be etc rather than a car that someones been more worried about making sure it shines nice when it goes down the road with a suspension clunk etc.

I'm sorry mate, but im pretty sure that means that you do not look after your car as much as a detailer... Ok so maybe it is your pride and joy but we all know for a fact that spending 20 odd hours detailing a car to perfection is caring for it slightly more than paying someone a fiver to do it in 20 minutes, or even worse 5 minutes to put it through a paint stripper/carwash...

I respect that some people may not have the time or patience to do this but I dont really think that its comparable, sorry if that offends anybody...

no offence taken at all mate. You're right. I might not look after the bodywork as much as a detailer, i wouldnt even pretend i do. But, if i needed to replace one tyre i usually replace all 4, if one bush is shot i'll change them all. A detailer might not look after his car in that way. Its horses for courses, everyone is different.

Cool, I'm glad you care for your car in that sense, but I try to care for both sides mechanical and looks... Very expensive though...

Agreed everyone is different, and like I said in my first post on this thread, if the person doing it is happy with the result, then nothing else really matters
