Weirdly I was talking to my mate about this the other day Dont think people would want their car machine polished every week...

That song is by Papa Roach actually
DAMMIT! I haven't heard it in years, thought it sounded wrong - I think we should have a forum Dunce hat for moments like this

I have used car washes in the past but only if I don't have time to wash my car myself.

Our car gets a jetwash to blast off all of the cr@p off, then a good soap (Autoglym) then another blast to get read of all the soap then a good clean leather off. Every 6 or so weeks she gets a polish using Autoglym then followed by a good wax (Meguiars) Doing this makes cleaning so much easier!

I wouldn't go near them with yours mate! It's not about them deteriorating the finish, they ruin it! As others have said, as a detailer it's my worst nightmare.

The hard clear coat that BMW uses will however stand up to the damage better than the buttery paint used on Hondas etc, but would still never use one.
If it aint broke, don't fix it!!!

automatic car washes, like the ones at petrol stations re-use the water,

so all the dirt washed off of one car is then pressure sparyed onto the next one that goes through,

Assuming thats your car in your sig pic the reason why it gleams is because it's silver and silver is the best colour in the whole wide world (bar none) for not showing swirls. If it were black it would look shocking, I'm almost certain of it. A lot of these car washes are un-manned too so there's no one to stop Barry's Builders going through in the Tranny with all manner of horrible shit stuck to it, it's just too risky. It's true that we dont always have the time or space to do it ourselves but have'nt you got a bunch of friendly cigarette smoking Eastern European fellows in the old, long since shut-down petrol station? They usually do quite a good job.

the same problem exsists with the easterns, as good of job as they do in a mircle amount time,

they use the same dirty sponge and wash mit they have been washing cars with all week that they have droped/stored on the floor, cheap cleaning chemicals and use a wiper blade to dry your car with

i think i will find the time to wash it myself lol
