This Aston Martin Vantage also belongs to my brother and at the time of the detail it was the latest edition to his prestigous car club/track day business.
The Aston was an ex demo and was purchased direct from Aston Martin, being a demo car it had been washed to death and was showing all the signs of poor wash techniques. Very swirly!
My brother got a fairly good deal on the Aston but even so it was handed over in pretty poor condition, so on with the detail.
My brother dropped the car of at 9am monday morning and was collecting the car at the weekend, the Aston was pretty dirty on arrival due to a 100 mile journey in the wet to get to me. But even through all the dirt and grime I could see paintwork was in need of a good power polish.
Started of on the wheels which were cleaned with smart wheels EZ brush and swissvax brush for the faces.
I then Foamed the car with A/S hifoam Acti Mousse and megs hyper wash.
After 10 mins.
While the foam done it's job I sprayed the door shuts,boot shut, petrol cap etc with G 101 and agitated with swiss brush.
Wheels arches were sprayed with with megs super degreaser and agitated with vikan brush.
Engine was pretty tidy and was sprayed with G 101 and agitated with various brushes before being rinsed at low pressure. I then foamed the car again with Elite snow foam left for approx 5 mins before pressure washing off, I then washed the car via 2 bm megs hyper wash and sonus lambs wool mitt.
I then gave the Aston a thorough rinse and then dried it off with miracle towel megs last touch and leaf blower.
I treated the lower half of the car with tadris to remove any tar spots and removed with micro fibre cloth, the wheels were also attended to be honest it was pretty tar free.
I then moved inside and clayed the paint surface, windows and wheels with sonus green and last touch as lube.
Paintwork was suprisingly clean.
Although the rear bumper was heavily contaminated due to all those hot exhaust gases pumping out of the V8 engine.
Wash stage was approx 3 hours.
I then taped up the Aston inspected the paint and took paint depth readings, paint was nice and healthy all round and no signs of pre accident damage.
So this was what I was faced with.
I decided to call it a day as I new tomorrow was gonna be a solid day of power polishing
Arrived nice and early and got on with the polishing stages, a couple of 50/50shoots.
50/50 of rear arch.
50/50 top of front wing.
50/50 front door.
Hiding under the swirls on the passenger door and crossing over to the rear arch was a deep scratch which needed wet sanding there was also alot of deep scratches around the fincky door handles, most probably caused by finger nails.
Wet sanded with 2000 then 4000 and then removed via the G220 megs cutting pad and menz intensive polish.
I carried on around the car untill I was happy with the correction I had achieved, the last job of the day was to touch in a nasty stone chip with some paint my brother had picked up from Aston Martin, which was left to cure over night.
The nasty stone chip that I touched in was carefuly flatted back with 4000 grit paper and then sanding marks were removed with g220.
The rest of the day was spent refining the paint and finishing off all the other bits and bobs, first up I made my way around the car with 3M ultrafina on a blue waffle pad. I then gave the panel a wipe down with IPA to remove any oil residue left from the polishes. Vics deep cleanse was then applied and removed with a plush micro fibre towel, vics concours wax then applied with a german applicator and removed with a plush micro fibre towel.
I then dressed the engine with megs all season dressing.
Underside of bonnet before.
Exhausts were polished with autosol.
Interior was then detailed leather was pretty tidy so no before pics, leather was conditioned with Lexol.
Another coat of vics concours was added, and then a final wipe down with Zymol field glaze.
And then out into the sunshine.
