I'm wondering if anyone here has had a go at painting the plastic inlet?

I've got this idea that I wouldn't mind painting mine to brighten up my engine bay.

I'm sure I have seen someone do this before.
There are plenty of jap cars with painted rocker covers, so you won't need to worry about high temp paints, but you will have to remember the paint will soften when hot, if the bonet lining is touching it, it will leave a little hairy patch.

You will also have to do a hell of a lot of degreasing, and use plastic primer.
The inlet is a prime candidate for silicone dress up sprays, and this will make itself known as the paint won't go anywhere near it.
Even someone using tyre gloss or similar nearby would be enough to ruin the finish by leaving "fish eyes" which are little pin pricks where the paint will just not sit.
