Got a 330i and ive just been quoted £100 for removing, sandblasting and re painting my callipers, which i think is a great price. The car is silver and was thinking of having them painted red. Any advice re the price and colour would much appreciated.

By the way thanks to everyone who gave advice on the model prior to me purchasing the car. Ive owned it a month now and i still have a grin on my face

To be honest, I wouldn't bother sand blasting them and all that, I'd just buy a tin of red Hammerite smooth and do it yourself for £5.

But I would say for the amount of labour involved in taking them off prep work and painting £100 is pretty good.

Red would suit a silver car nicely If you want the sport look that is. If not I would do them silver for an OEM type look.

Blue and yellow are other options to go for if you want a sporty look.

Did mine silver...a tin of caliper paint from Halfords and a roll of masking tape, everyone has different opinions but to me they're a bit small to do red, its kind of ...well....ummmmmm barry boy'ish

I did mine red on my 323i silver, it looked good after two coats of hammerite smooth, however I am going to re do them in black as its more subtle and after all theyre not brembo or similar type calipers. What I will say is that they have been protected nicely by the paint so whatever colour you do there's always that bonus. I have to say I never felt barry boyish with the red. Rest of the car's too classy for that image.

Appreciate your comments. The only reason I was leaning towards red is because my octavia Vrs were red and to be honest I liked them. I think the 330i is a nicer car than the occi, hence why I thought it would look nice with the mv2 wheels. I'm not competent to do it myself and for a £100 quid I thought they would be a better job if they were sandblasted and subsequently painted?? Wife doesn't want them done till after Xmas, but i thought i'd get some pre advice ??

There's an alternative. There's always a third way, and it's not a combination of the other two ways. It's a different way

Red Calipers on a E36 - Montreal Blue (Not Silver or Black )

I just went bought new calipers instead of sanding them down... plus I got money back when I took in my old ones!

Also got the aerosol give it a try and see!

should be 15mins after each coat.... says that on the can

Just remember wear a mask over your mouth and nose... not nice... In a hurry to get it done! as still need to do the other caliper yet...
