I have been checking out all the awesome results on here and lurking on a detailing forum for a while and now i'm hooked!

I have always had the impression there must have been better ways than fairy and a sponge... Have ordered a shedload of proper cleaning gear (mitt, grit guard, proper shampoo, drying towel, clay kit etc) and can't wait to get stuck in

A guy at work has a DA I can borrow and is going to show me how to correct my swirls... all I need now is some half decent weather lol

My sponge is now only for the wheels. Got a wool mitt for the body and a claybar for the paint. First time I clayed the car? my reaction was - WOW!

Letting my fingers drift over the bodywork just like wet glass, I had to close my eyes and smile.
Clear your heads and get ready to run.
Remember, the best times are yet to come.

It's partially due to seeing your work Gleammachine - most of my xmas list this year is car cleaning stuff

@Wonkydog - I can't wait to clay it - the phrase "bonded contaminants" was running through my head yesterday when I was washing the motor!

I have spotted another like minded soul - the guy across the road has an 08 BMW 3 coupe and uses some kind of wheel foam and a mitt for the bodywork. We are blatantly going to end up trying to outshine each other lol

Has anyone seen a thread on here that recommends such cleaning products that the majority of us can afford? If not I think you guys should start posting the essentials for doing a better job and even links perhaps as to where the items can be purchased

I'm sure me and me old mucker Rob can come up with a list of affordable products and recommended retailers

I could even sort out a detailing day at my unit if anyone is interested, so they can get to play with some products and pick up some tips from the pros

Yes, a list of basic detailing stuff required for us n00bs would be really handy

A detailing day sounds awesome, but you are a million-ish miles away!

That's where most of my stuff is coming from - call me fickle but I really like their site

I know what you mean about it getting out of hand, I feel the obsession building already!
