hehe i ordered some german plates from CraftyPlates on eBay, they are genuine German metal plates, and I bought the 2010 "Land Bayern" state seals to make them look extra German haha !
........ a mate of mine had a Clio Williams (euro'd) with white French plates... he was tugged by the police, slapped on the wrists and was told only yellow euro plates on the back were acceptable?
It might just be that police around my way are soft.... I had black plates on my Fiesta RS and nobody grumbled.
it's the attitude test...if you have a bad one or lie knowingly you will get points or fine or what not, but to be honest if you are polite and tell the truth you will be sent on your way with a smile and a warning....that was day1 at hendon
Heres a bit of info from the dvla.....i've never heard of anyone getting points and it appears that after a warning and on the spot fine if you dont get the plates changed and get caught again then it could be points aswell...guess a lot depends on how you act when getting pulled..

Today it was announced that on-the-spot fines for illegal number plates are to double from £30 to £60.
The DVLA are very specific as to how a legal number plate should be displayed - including font, letter size, and spacing.
This includes failure to conform with rules on font, size and colour of number plates. The use of illegal number plates can have a significant impact on criminal investigations and crime detection.
say the DVLA.
The fine could be in addition to a 3-point penalty on your license. Repeated offence could even lead to the registration number being confiscated.
i tried making it smaller by cutting the pic down but when i put it on the forum it just enlarged to the size of the screen..any clues how to keep it 1 page width?
EDIT: done it!
You'd have to be really abusive to the old bill to get points I would think, on a good day you'll prob just get a warning espically if you have the originals in the boot that you could swop, on not such a good day £60. Would have to be very extreme to get points.
You won't get points - they're not discretionary for roadside pulls, only by Magistrates. It's a £60 fixed penalty - no discretion apart from not issuing one at all and I believe that is a diminishing likelyhood.
The good news is the Country is so skint we won't be able to afford Plod on the street for much longer!

For a first time, one off 'plate ticket, you'll either get a VDRS which means you need to rectify the issue and take your car to a MOT test centre and have them certify this is the case
OR
You'll get a £60 fine.
This talk of points for plates in the real world is nonsense.
Everyone knows when they are taking the mick so if you're tear-arsing down the high street or something you will be more likely to get the fine as you've already demonstrated you're an arse so will just a warning do?
And to those who talk of discretion - it's one of a coppers biggest strengths, but can also be a weakness in some ccircumstances - the debate could go on forever about how, why and when to use it.
Mmmmmm. Do policemen only travel behind other cars? Might as well take my front plate off if they can't see it anyway! :silly
