My e60 had worn paint & lots of scuff damage so I had it primed and then vinyl wrapped about 3 years ago. The vinyl wasn't done very well so I'm arranging it to be rewrapped (repainting is out of question due to job cost/vehicle value ratio). I have decided that I'd like it to be in either Matt Black (what it is now) or Gloss white with Matt Black roof — current matt-black roof is currently in fine condition and won't have to be rewrapped anyway. My alloys are satin black which I won't change as they in good condition and suit both combinations anyway.

However I do plan to replace the car in 4 months so I'm concerned about resale value. I love the matt black (I know everyone thinks that their car is a head-turner, but this one is more like a crowd turner), but I can see that many people are going for gloss white & black roof.

So guys, any tips on which colour will retain the cars value?

Hmmm its a hard choice, although resale I would have thought that it would be easier to shift the white one!

Out of interest how much does it cost for a wrap these days?

Think if yr looking at resale and going by current trends then gloss white it should be. Matt black seems to have died a death for being the in thing. Still looks good on some cars but i reckon you'd get more interest in the white/black combo.

Neither. You would get more money for gloss white.

Matte black and a white/black combo restricts the audience for the resale. White......most people like.

A local wrapper is asking £1200 done in 2 days, but thats including the inside door area (hardest part). I haven't asked them what it would be if I just want the outside. I also thought white would be easier to sell, but matt black might command a premium with the right buyer.

Removing the vinyl and just having resprayed would be £2250 (and that was only the panels with currently primed/non-painted surfaces), and that would leave me with the boring titanium silver (I'd rather keep & try to sell it with the currently peeling vinyl instead).

Really? You reckon that all white is more trendy than white w/matt black roof?

The pro of having the matt black roof is that I may not need to have the roof rewrapped as the current vinyl is still currently in good condition and hopefully still will be in 4 months time when I sell it.

Trendy......maybe. But normally trendy to people in their 20s. That era of person is not going to be looking at an e60....(with the exception of a very few).

Loads of people are loving the white at the moment. Makes economical sense even though it may not be quite as trendy.

I would go for matt white if you want to keep black matt roof.

Where do you live? if you don't mind? I'm only asking because I am a vehicle wrapper and we can make some deal.

I love the white/black roof combo. I think it would sell faster and attract more buyers and also turn more heads than the Matt black one. No offensive to people who like "matt" colours, but I find "matt" colours a bit dull and doesn't make the car look new. The only matt colour i'd consider is that silver/grey matt colour on the M3 that was on Top Gear a few months ago.
