I liked it at first... as a concept, saw the odd thing in matt black and it looked good.

But then, Brabus made their Bullit in Matt black.

In the press photo it looks good, but in the EVO magazine, pictured on real roads and lighting, it looked like someone had gobe over a shiny black car with sandpaper .......

Seen a few max puppets driving around in respsrayed matt black corsa's and to be honest as far as matt black goes I don't like it on production vehicles. Matt black will only suit a very small number of unique vehicles.

Also saw a 540i several months back that had been painted matt black, IIRC it was posted on this forum after a fellow member saw it and that looked a bloody mess.

As much as I like such little cars, I think that would look better in the normal shiny, polished black than matt-black.
Let the fun times roll .....

Its hard to say without seeing untouched photos or seeing the car in person. It also depends on what car it is. I don't think it looks bad on the Brabus or the Fiat above, but in person or passing it on the street could be different.

I'll be interested to see how it comes out for Philip1972, then you'll get some more opinions

As soon as its done I will post. When I say the next week or 2, it depends when I get it back from the garage who are taking forever to do the new suspension and bushes !

At the end of the day its cheaper than a respray, and the current body work is dreadful.

If you keep it in a garage, only use it on mild & 100% dry days, and don't touch it with anything other than silk golves it would be ok. It looks good when it's new before chips, marks & fingerprints), and looks good on cars with smoothed body panels (removed door handles etc etc), but those lines/angles suit the E36 and I think a matt colour could quite possibly ruin the car.

Having said that it could turn out ok... but I honestly think a gloss jet black finish would look 1000 times better on an E36.

I Love it , ii think it looks hard as fook . My mate has a matt black capri and it looks the nuts. As for touching it and so on , its like any other paint really , doesnt leave big fingerprints like you`d imagine. Om the minus side . it shows every blemish in the car body . I imagine it would be like having a chrome car . You would see every single little dink or ripple .
