Like Baderlfc says, it isnt used for removing scratches just contaminents on the paintwork, it helps to prep the paint work before polishing, Just use some on half the bonnet run your hand across the clayed part then across the unclayed part, massive differance!
None of the ideas expressed above are actually mine. They are told to me by Luthor and Ferdinand, the five inch tall space aliens who live under my desk. In return for these ideas, I have given them permission to eat any dust bunnies they may find under there.

It also lifts of tar spots too, but be careful as this will mark your paint if you rub in the bits that come off. So make sure you use a good tar remover beforehand.

The tar remover i used last weekend was rubbish so i didnt clay the lower have of the doors. Ill have to do them once i get a decent tar remover, or petrol.

Acetone works well, not a good idea to use it to often though.

Ah right, thought it helped removed swirls from polishing.

I remember the following trick over on www.detailingworld.com ....

Put your hand in a sandwich / freezer bag and run your hand over the paint, after what you'd think was a good wash with just shampoo/washmit etc etc. You will feel the ingrained dirt on top of the paint...

after claying , do the same and you will feel the difference, its like glass following a good clay.

This video explains all, but you have to put up with the stupid american commentator !

p.s if by now your neighbours dont think your insane, jack the back up of your M Coupe up and take a dremel to the inside of the exhaust tips to get that shine back ! Now they will KNOW your are nuts !!
