my favourite part of detailing is the interior and i would recommend that to make the dash look the way you want would be to:

-clean with any type of APC or Meguairs quick interior detailer(and brush parts if need be)

    - wipe off the dash to dry it up and get excess crap off

    - then use a furniture polish,
( this polish doesnt work on some cars materials so you had better test first on a small spot to see if the polish has good effect)

    Hope ive been a help.
    Potent detailer and BMW lover.

If you want to retain the matt look of the dash you cant go far wrong with some warm soapy water and dry of with soft cloth afterwards

All of these sound good! I'll try a few and see what happens.

Dunno if it'd work in a car but I use Mr.Sheen on my motorbike, cuts through everything, brake dust, chain lube etc! Sorry for going off topic a bit

I use Armor All, it comes in gloss, semi-gloss and matt options as well have easy to use wipes and spray bottles. I have used that for about 4 years and been very happy.
