    Hi Guys

Can anyone tell me if Imola red has a clearcoat finish.

I have purchased a 330 e46 in this coluor and the paint has lots of swirls, fine scratches in it, also it is looking a little faded. My thinking is if it has clearcoat the fading wont be able to be rectified.

    Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks

    Mick L

it can be rectified mate if you gogle the colour they are normally really deap and shiny if you take it to your nearest body shop or detailer (or if you feel up to it) get it machine polished with cutting compound and polish followed by a sh!t load of wax!

i've no idea if it's clearcoat, but Immo has a nice deep shine. Specially after her treatment at the Autobright meet!!

They machine polished the boot lid and man did it come up a nice colour, a nice rich shine.

Also: BEST e46 Colour for sure!!!

Immo has a clear coat. There is only one item on my car that hasn't, and that is one of my mirror covers.

It's quite a hard paint too, I used a rotary with Poorboys SSR2 (normally corrects most paints), and it left a lot of random deep swirls. So i'm going to have to up the cut and use SSR 2.5.

There are products about that will mask the swirls, Immo red is a very forgiving colour.
If it aint broke, don't fix it!!!

    Ok

So answered my own question. I got a touch up stick from BMW and it has a laquer with it so I guess its clearcote.
I have started the detailing process today, Snow foamed, thorough wash, All door shuts, nooks and crannies cleaned with APC and engine bay cleaned.
towelled dry ready for claying, de tarring and then polishing, I forgot to take pics, I was in too much of a hurry to start work..
Hopefully I can get some pics before next stage starts and post up.

    Thanks for all the replys
