Question is as per the thread title, meaning could i create the same look on a prepared (large, visible) bodypart from scratch?
My car has nicely aged paintwork, Dakar yellow as it happens.

Have an idle dream about trying something. So this thread is very speculative, but if anyone has an answer or contribution, welcomed. thanks.

Chips away etc should be able to do it.
They should have the original paint codes for Dakar yellow, and also a bunch of colour cards with a hole in the middle.
What they'll do is hold the card up to the car and look for the sample that matches what is in the hole.
