Can anyone recommend a product to polish/remove scratches from headlight plastics?

Noticed my drivers side is starting to show signs of sandblasting from the roads. If anyone has experience with that and can recommend a product that they like, would appreciate it.

    Cheers.

I think there was an article in Total BMW last month on a product for bringing the headlights good again.

However I can not think what the name of it was.

Meguires now do a headlight restoration kit that is very good. However for deep marks you will need some 1500, 2000, and 3000 grit wet and dry to sand out the marks before polishing. There are plenty of guides how to do it on youtube mate!

And yes G3 is good at getting marks out of plastic lenses via a rotory, but you have to be careful heat buildup doesn't start to melt or cloud the lense. Also a finer polish afterwards is a good idea.

Yes there was, I think they used the meguiars kit page 71 Cendrian if your interested in Junes issue of total BMW.

Personally my self I use coarse grades from 1000 up to 3000 then g3 with a rotary and then some 3M machine polish. You have to be careful not to distort or burn the lense with too high speed/pressure on the machine.

IIRC on the compacts its easy enough you can just lift the bonnet up to show the headlight's easier as not to mark the bonnet with the machine? The only thing from the mag I would rate is the megs PlastX cleaner. I use it on my vert rear screen and its perfect but I bought it after I did my headlights with g3.
