    Hi

New here guys so hope this is the right section!

Waiting to get the go-ahead from the DVLA to apply my private reg to my E46 330 convertible. The dealer made up the plates and left them in the car boot as I stay around 60 miles from the dealership.

What is the best method for application/removal of the old plates? The bodywork has not been drilled so I am assuming that they have been applied with double sided tape.

I saw some numberplate tape on ebay - is this type of stuff any good (any recommendations gratefully received) or am I better paying a local garage to apply the plates? Do not want them dropping off the first time there is rain! No doubt the dealer will want to charge plenty as usual!

I would of thought there are pre brilled holes as every bm i had has had them, then a trip to halfords for a £2 set of screws with coloured caps.

Cheers Eddie - did not appreciate that all BMWs were pre-drilled. My E60 was pre-drilled but do not suppose I will know for sure until I remove the old plates.

Only thing is that the plates are not drilled!

I love the way they say they are high security and people wouldn't be able to remove your plates... then tells you how to go about it

I just drilled holes in the plates using the originals as a guide then reused existing screws/ caps etc.

    Simples.
    I'm loving it

Mate if you need to get the remnants off from old adhesive first (almost certain to be the case), get yourself some AutoGlym Tar remover, it'll come off in no time
