Hi i have a e61 520d with full electric cloth seats (not heated and no lumbar support). I have spotted a full set of grey leather full electric seats from an M series tourer which are heated, have lumbar and massage facility. Will these fit straight into mine or would I need to reprogram the ecu, replace control boxes beneath the seats etc.

The heated switches are on the dash so you would need them too.

Just found that panel on auction, assume it just plugs in the same as the exsisting panel. cant imagine the wiring loom would be different behind there. I am more concerned with the powered seats working correctly with my exsisting control boxes beneath the seats.

I'm guessing your current seat are probably not "full electric" in that they have no memory facility etc?? If this is the case leather seats can be found with the same spec (no memory) and will plug straight in. The Seat heating won't work but the rest will. The seat heating can also be enabled by fitting a seat heating module and swiches and having a dealer code it for you. To fit the memory type seats is a lot more complicated as the electrics are quite different.

No they are the full electric seats with memory, only in cloth, they can not be moved in any way manually inc the headrests. The ones i have seen have lumbar, and side bolsters which I assume to be electric and the massage facility, these mine dont have.

That quite unusual to be specc'd like that with no leather? In that case I am pretty sure the seats will fit but with the lumbar etc inoperative.

I did retrofit from half electric to full electric with memory. for all the actuators including lumbar and memory I only had to bring power to the underseat ECU and connect K-bus. Heating and masage option are controlled by switches on the dash, so you will need to wire those. to get rid of the errors (you probably will get restrain system errors) you will need to code your car. Wiring loom will depend on the year. best of luck

My previous bmw had leather seats with the additional lumbar support, I found it to be superb, but it did not incorporate the massage facility.
I am pretty sure the current Bmw lumbar support does not have a massage facility, perhaps the previous owner of the leather seats had an aftermarket system.

I recently had heated carbon fibre elements installed below my leather seats, and switches put into the dash, but it did not require coding.

This may be of interest to you, the installer I used said they could also fit a lumbar support which incorporates a massage facility. www.trimtechnik.net

actually, my e61 is from `04 and new seats was from e60 `05. when checked both ECU`s were from `04. half electric seats was working without K-bus, comfort seats require K-bus for switches on the seats to work. depend on the current seats, if they have 2 piece back rest, I think sport seats does not have this option, you will have to code out extra pretensioners which are in the 2 piece back rest.
