    Can anyone tell me how to clean off the yellow staining on the silver stripes on my engine covers see picture below

    A brush and some GUNK then rinse with water-will come up like new

    Gunk? will I get it from any Car shop

    Didn't want to scrub it too hard in case I took the silver off it

    Yep thats the stuff-don't worry just gets rid of the grease-you can also by it cans you can brush on and washes off easily.You can get it in halfords

    I would have thought an all purpose cleaner would do the job as well Just my 2p

    Ive tried a degreaser on the engine before with no joy, its pretty hard the yellow staining

    Just going from my experience.
    I had a leaking rocker gasket and the oil had pretty much burnt on the engine and by using GUNK it seemed to come off very quickly-couldn't believe it and it didn't harm my paint work
    As I said this was just my personal experince

    Ive got a funny feeling its from that protective stuff they put on the car when its new theres some on the vanos housing aswell. Its been there since I bought the car

    have a look at the front of the engine by the cam-chains 1 before using GUNK and 1 after using GUNK-came up lovely and maybe even better if I spent more time on it
