Looking for some advice.
My car (E24 – 635 CSi) is having an inspection II after being sat under a car porch for the last four years.
While she is being worked on, as my mechanic removes a part i take it home and spray the parts with high temperature paint.
My first attempts with matt black where o.k. but I was not happy, especially after i sprayed other components with a cheaper high temperature paint that left a powdery residue which transferred itself onto the newly sprayed matt black parts.
I have since re-sprayed with a gun-metal grey which I am much happier with.
My question is after the hi-temp paint has cured(24 hours) can I then apply a clear lacquer for protection?
Before Cleaning – Sump just taken off car.
Sump after cleaning
Sump – After 1st attempt – 4 coats of hi-temp. paint
Sump – After gun metal grey. NOT A HAPPY BUNNY
Rocker cover – Nicely painted black before ugly finger marks.
Sump - After
AFM - Finished
Air filter cover - Finshed
Rocker panel - complete
I guess the parts that are not subjected to heat will be o.k with the laquer. Will the parts that get hot disclour /melt to top coat of laquer?
