    HI All.
I recieved my Mtech steering wheel in the post the other day.
    Advertised as

"BMW M TECH MULTI FUNCTION STEERING WHEEL

IN EXCELLENT UNMARKED USED CONDITION AND IN FULL WORKING ORDER"

But when I got it it had these tears on. I queried the seller and he responded
    "Hi
Thanks for your comments but you cannot buy a used wheel without these slits.
Confirm this with your BMW dealer if you wish.
    Thanks"

    Anyone know if this's true?

I can't imagine there being a common issue like this with E90's

its the Ebayer's fault he should have advertised that its damaged and put up pics of the faults on the listing IMO.

    Have you contacted Ebay??

is there a screw head inside that slit or anything?
the slit will be invisible once the wheel is mounted anyway?

that sounds like a right load of crap! So when bm fix an instrament cluster, or have to remove a wheel for some reason they rip the steering wheel i think not! its more like a cowboy who can't remove a wheel! report it to ebay.

My main issue is the usual ebay rubbish, of buying something described as "A" and getting it and find out its "B"
    IN EXCELLENT UNMARKED USED CONDITION

Unmarked would be my major gripe here. And one of those tears is fairly sizeable.

you asked if the slits had any reason being there...the answer is patently yes.
are they too big?...or too noticeable? your photos are inconclusive.
i think the question you should ask yourself is,will you notice these slits once the wheel is mounted?
