Just had my drivers-side front wing resprayed after a rust repair. Pleased with the repair but not sure I'm happy with the colour match on the respray, see pictures attached...

I hear it's difficult to get an exact match with silver so not sure if this is as good as you can get and I'm being overly picky or whether a better result is possible. The wing seems a shade 'greyer' than the rest of the car. Would appreciate any opinions/advice. It is slight - but I'm not sure I can live with it.

If I do get it done again I'm looking at a place in leicester (http://www.goremotors.co.uk/autopaint/) - they specifically mention BMW's so i'm hopging they've got some experience with this colour (I think it's fairly popuplar) anyone got any experience with them?

Also considering just buying a second hand silver coupe wing off ebay, there seem to be a few around - i've had a look and it looks like a straightforward bolt-on swap to me, can't see any welds - again anyone swapped an e46 wing? Any tips?!

    Thanks for all advice.

whatever you do. dont polish it. One of my wings is a very slight off to the rest of the car for a similar reason. but when i polish it AAAARRRGGGHHHHH

    looks totally different

    irritates all the time

Silver is a notoriously hard colour to respray-even if a reputable sprayer does it the chances are it will still look out-Alas thats the price you pay for having a silver car unless you have the whole car resprayed its unlikely you will ever get an exact colour match.Silver seems to stand out more than any other colour

They should have blended roughly half way into the front door with the colour, then laquered the wing and front door.
It would hardly have been noticable.....
Silver is a nightmare when we have to paint it edge to edge....

thats an aweful match... i had mine done and you cant tell unless in direct sunlioght and thats only because it's new paint and th car is obviously 9 years old! but even then it's pretty hard to notice unless ur about 3 ft from it...

As steve has mentioned they should have blended it in along the door, instead of just taping it up and then spraying one panel

Might be worth just going back and having a polite word?

/agree'd that should be in with the price... out of interest how much did you pay for this?
