for those looking for a decent undercoat. Any of the matt heat resistant black paints are a perfect base coat. Since using one a while ago out of necessity, I have stuck to using it as a basecoat ever since. I actually find it more amenable to top coats than primer, and it can hide all manner of blemishes.

Hi mate. Thanks for the pics - looks pretty tidy!

I'm just pondering colour choice now - anyone got any suggestions? See my interior above!..so far i'm thinking about gloss black - not sure yet though.

Also my gear knob seems to have a few white dots on it, looks a bit like dots of paint, any way i can remove them? Also do you reckon i'll be able to get all the scratches/scuffs out through sanding?

I'm thinking about doing this to the interior trim of my compact as its skanky grey and I can't source a silver set.

My trim feels slight rubberised in texture - is this likely to affect it?

Kev - silver would look good in yours I think - its looks the same as mine.

    Hi sam_c

I've just been looking at 2 silver sets at a breakers yard on t'bay.

    Item numbers: 400048100132 & 380115584461

A bit on the pricy side, maybe a DIY spray might be better?

    regards

Thanks for that - your right not cheap. DIY is looking more and more appealing but worried about a naff job, especially with the slightly rubberised texture of the trim.

100 quid isnt that bad a price for a full set. I would say that for anyone thinking of painting the interior trim in silver, its not the most resilient colour when it comes to scratches. The interior trim (at least when it comes to doors) gets a hard life of rubbing from jackets and involuntary knocks from keys and bags etc. It is a colour that will show every single scratch no matter how light.

I would be using lacquer so thick that it could handle a regular T cut rub for a few occasions in the future
