    hey guys

im thinking of doing a subtle mod on my car and installing angel eyes but i have a few questions.

firstly, are the kits on ebay generally poor, and how much should i expect to pay for a kit with the remote feature as well as i plan to do this?

secondly as my car is a facelift will i need to remove the headlight and bake it in the oven to open it up?

thirdly if i decide that i am too incapable of doing this mod myself how much should i expect to pay someone to fit the kit for me?

and finally would you guys recommend this mod?

    thanks alot

    Hi mate

I have an E36 so the process is a bit different, however I got my CCFL Angel Eye kit on Ebay and it was dirt cheap, only £26 and its brilliant.

Have a look at my DIY at the link below which is reasonably similar for an E46, just so you get an idea

I have a facelift saloon and had to take headlight apart to remove glass from a bulb that blew up. On mine the glass just clipped off and on again very easily.

Ah ok, because i have been reading around and most places say that the facelift headlight must be baked in the oven?

And you are correct for some models that is. The remote part you will have to make using a relay in the circuit.

How can i find out if my model is one of those ones? It's a facelift saloon, 2003(52)..Also, can i not just tap the wire for the interior lights for the remote feature(i read this somewhere as well!)?

Take a pic of the headlight from the top and we will be able to tell you . Yes, you are correct about connecting to comfort lighting but you still need a circuit in between to stop your CCFL's from flickering.

nice one neal, cheers for the heads up mate.

just been reading around on various e46 forums about angel eyes and i've been rather put off them now - hearing about peoples angel eye balasts catching fire and burning etc...having second thoughts now...! what are your opinions? LED is much safer right?
