I need a new pair of wing mirrors for my 2004reg 318 coupe
I dont want to go to bmw themselves and pay an arm and a leg so i am looking at aftermarket products.
I would like either standard mirrors or M3 / M3 replica's, dont care where from as long as they're not over priced!

However after doing some shopping around ive been told that i cant get aftermarket mirrors for the facelift model due to the wiring being a ribbon style! Is this the case?

Am i being forced to use OEM products?!?!?!?

That's correct. Unfortunately, the 6/12 pin connector on the M3 mirrors is not compatible with the facelift's cabling system. Some people have stripped these mirrors and modified them in order to retrofit.

So strip the M3 mirrors and get the old cabling to conenct to the new connectors?

Neil, i live in Middlesex to (Ruislip). Maybe you can advise me of somewhere other than BMW where i can get some mirrors... any mirrors!

I need a pair of them. Im rollin around at the moment with one drivers side mirror which doesnt even match the colour of my car :(

Guess who else lives in Ruislip .
You can get them from ECP...£120 but you will only save £20 if buying from dealer . All I can suggest is buy any colour from breakers, and have them re-sprayed . They will charge you something like £25 - £45 depending on the condition.

I see you was an Ex BMW tech... did you work in the garage in Ruislip Manor which then moved to the industrial estate near Selco? Coz i know a guy who used to work there before he was made redundant

BMW quoted me £160 unpainted and £280 painted!
I need a pair which was hoping to pick up for £250ish for the lot.
    i'll check ECP

Ive already got one from a scrappy on my drivers side (hence why its grey) but made the mistake of buy a motorised one (came off a convertible) and so the plugs dont match and i cant even fold up the mirror manually

You mean Scothalls? Nope...I did my work in Ashford, going back a few years .
Go and visit ECP main HQ in Wembley behind the stadium...they will definitely have them there otherwise the smaller ECP outfits will need to order from them. Inspect them at your leisure before purchasing...you still need to paint them though.

Thanks for the advice - big help!
ECP have sorted me out - £224 for both mirrors

Before i go pick them up though, im wondering if its worth getting M3 mirrors?
    Would they fit straight on?

For a facelift coupe? You will have big work to do on those ...especially working out how to interface the ribbon connections.
