    hi ive been into body shop over weekend and they want 120 quid to colour code the grey strips on my car so im guna do them with the correct code spray can but do they need a clear coat or not the colour code is 470 metallic any help cheers people :-)

    Personally yes they would require a couple of coats of clear lacquer,but at £120 i think i would be getting the body shop to do it given will prob cost £30 quidish for materials and all the masking /prep/spray really 120 seems good value

    EDIT remember if doing by rattle can paint mix might need to be altered due to paint fade on you car i had some made rather than bought of the shelf

    never thought of paint fade mate hmmm i thought it was expensive wants my car for 3 days tooo

    been to a diff garage today for another quote and he wanted 450 no wonder he was sat there with nowt do

    I have just started to do mine last night as this new car came with silver strips got red plastic primer, flamenco red paint and laqour for about 26 quid from halfords I'd say do it yourself just give them a quick sand first and you can hardly see any paint fade it looks better with em painted then without


    K and N induction kit
    Hid kit
    18" BBS CH style staggered wheels wrapped in falken fk452s
    JVC AVX33
    Alpine Type R 6.5" componant front speakers
    2 12" JBL subs
    CRN Products drilled discs front and rear
    EBC greenstuff pads front and rear

    didnt know you get red primer i ok at painting from tin painted all my bikes back in day and painted some interior plastics in old car all turned out sweet :-) when i fit them once painted i will tcut the car to restore paintwork so will not be noticeable.
